DWI Defense
Not one of us wants a society in which intoxicated individuals drive our streets, injuring people and destroying property. However, as a former Dallas Police officer, I know from many years of experience that not everyone who is stopped for DWI/DUI is guilty. MADD would have you believe otherwise. DWI defense is the only area of criminal law in which I practice. I am a member of the National College for DWI Defense and would be pleased to discuss your situation with you.
Let's get right to it. If you have been arrested for DWI-DUI, what you are about to go through is sometimes a confusing and difficult experience. At the very least, it is frustrating and can be expensive. The expense is not just in legal fees but in the impact on your driver's license, your reputation, time from your job, and possibly insurance rates. The first thing many people ask is, "Do I really need an attorney?" The best explanation I have heard came from a friend of mine; he said "If I was playing one-on-one basketball with M-J, I could beat him every time if he did not know the rules. If Michael did not realize that a basket counts 2 points, that you get free throws when you are fouled, that you must stay inside the lines when you have the ball and that you have to dribble when you walk or run with the ball, I would beat him every time." The same thing holds true at the courthouse. If you don't know the rules, how can you expect to have a fighting chance, much less win?
DWI and DUI are the only criminal cases I take. Having been a Dallas Police Officer for many years, along with my internship with the Dallas County Public Defenders Office, allows me to FULLY understand what is involved in the successful defense of your case. Knowing the rules is paramount in winning as well as being able to negotiate the best options for you should you decide not to take your case to trial. I have read countless reports where it appears the officer placed someone in jail for DWI-DUI seemingly because they do not know what else to do with them. This is unjust and must be stopped. The penalties for DWI-DUI are too severe to allow questionable arrests to go unchallenged.
